Under the heavy hand of Saul’s persecution, the church scatters and the gospel goes forward to Samaria. Here we encounter a clash of kingdoms as the gospel infiltrates into deep-seated darkness & the Samaritans are brought into the fellowship as co-equal recipients of the Holy Spirit.
With growth comes problems - tricky ones. In the middle of the steep growth of the early church, the needs of widows arises and threatens to become a significant barrier to God’s continued work. The apostles lead the church in grappling with this problem and the ongoing growth of the church continues.
All of humanity feels the longing for what is transcendent. We long for the one who is above to come down and be close. In the OT, God comes to dwell with his people in the Temple. The wonder of the book of Acts, is that God comes to dwell IN his people through the Holy Spirit. During this message, we look at this incredible shift and what it looks like for God's people to be the meeting place between heaven and earth.
