Restoring True Humanity

What is a true human?

A true human...

  • loves God (Mark 12:30)

  • is an imager of God (Genesis 1:27)

  • is a disciple of Jesus (Luke 14:27)

  • unceasingly worships God in all of life (Exodus 20:3)

  • is teachable (Proverbs 12:1)

  • is wise and not foolish (Psalm 111:10)

  • resists temptation (Hebrews 4:15)

  • is in the divine royal family (John 1:12)

  • is in Christ (John 15:5)

  • has been redeemed, is being redeemed and through the power of the gospel brings redemption to others (2 Corinthians 5:18-21)

How does The Project restore people to their true humanity? Well, it’s a process! But we follow God’s leading in the ministries and community He has entrusted to us:

  • All people have been made as unceasing worshippers.

  • All of life is lived Coram deo (before the face of God).

  • People are embodied souls who always live out of their hearts (comprised of the mind, will and emotions). The heart is the causal core of personhood.

  • All of life is lived within a covenantal context.

  • Sin is the expression of the heart’s love for and worship of something else – something that by definition is far less glorious than God.

  • We are by nature first and foremost relational beings – God relational and other relational.

  • Since we are all God’s children we are to live out the reality of family in our relationships with one another.

  • The grace of God as seen in the gospel is the change agent in people’s lives.

  • We value a precise application of the grace of God upon human need.

  • We value authenticity in relationships.

  • We are all sent by God to take the gospel to our neighbours and to all the world.

  • We are deep and passionate about the gospel and truth as revealed in the scriptures.

  • We believe the gospel is good, world-changing news.

  • We value every member in the church and feel a responsibility to shepherd and lead them no matter their age.

  • We believe humans were originally made dependent upon God and each other and this dependence has only increased as a result of sin.

  • We believe everyone’s walk with God is a community project.

  • We believe it is vitally important for the church to gather together for corporate worship every week and to hear the preaching of God’s word.

  • We value discipleship as an expression of becoming fully human.

  • It is our core calling to partner with God in reorienting each other (when we have turned) and the unsaved to God.

  • We believe it is more blessed to give than receive. We believe God has gifted every child of his so that they can make regular contributions to his family.
